Ambrose Penhallow

Partner

Sells and buys privately held companies, mostly for the sellers.

Ambrose spent most of his career on acquisitions at a large New York firm before joining Clementine to do the same work on a fixed fee. He represents owners selling a company they built or inherited, and occasionally the buyer across the table. He likes to start a year before the sale, when there is still time to tidy what a buyer's diligence would find.

How Ambrose works

A sale goes best when the seller knows, before the letter of intent, which terms they will not give up. I spend our first meetings finding those, then I hold to them for the months that follow.

I'd rather tell a client a term is worth walking away over in week two than in week twelve, when everyone is tired and the closing date is printed on the invitations.
